Our ideal candidate is a financial controller with a CPA license and experience in all facets of accounting responsibilities for a $10-$15M company with the capabilities, interest, and ambition to learn the responsibilities of a Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Excellent communication skills are required as this position interacts externally with our clients and vendors as well as internally with our CEO, management team, and employees. This position currently requires managing one salaried employee that supports accounting and is responsible for implementing our digital ecosystem.
As the Financial Controller you will be using our financial system (Unanet), running payroll via a third-party provider (ADP – WorkForce Now) and creating and revising processes on our technology backbone (Google). As you grow in this job to become the CFO, you will also be responsible for the management and execution of our financial relationships, retirement plan, business insurance, contracts management and our digital ecosystem.
As the Financial Controller (and when promoted to CFO) you will report directly to the CEO. The CFO is responsible for leading and coordinating the finance and administration organization (F/A), including the financial controller responsibilities, within Sapere. The CFO works with the CEO and management team to develop and enable the company’s long and short-term strategy. The CFO will lead F/A by establishing a vision to support Sapere’s growth and enable meeting long-term financial and operational objectives.
Accounting, Finance and Reporting
Responsible for establishing and implementing the annual and long-term operations planning approach. Functional responsibility for all accounting, financial reporting, cash management, corporate taxation, risk management, contracts management, and 401k plan administration.
Administration & Digital Infrastructure
Responsible for managing all corporate office lease agreements, insurance policies, and other administrative contracts and providing administrative support for all office locations. Establish and maintain digital workplace policies and property management policies consistent with sound business practices and all client contractual obligations.
- Minimum four-year degree in finance or accounting
- Ten years’ experience in a leadership financial role
- Excellent communication skills both for providing services to clients’ administrative organizations and internally with CEO, Practice Leads and consultants
- Strong US GAAP knowledge, CPA license required
- Demonstrated knowledge of:
- federal and state tax regulations,
- financial systems (e.g., Unanet)
- project cost accounting
- banking (e.g., obtaining line of credit or financing)
- payroll systems (e.g., ADP)
- 401(K) plans
- budget formulation
- key performance indicator development and reporting
- contracts negotiation and management
