Under general direction of the Medical Director, performs general medical examinations facility-wide; provides diagnostic and treatment services; provides facility-wide consultation in internal medicine to medical staﬀ; provides in- service training to other staﬀ; serves as an intermediary and advocate for patients during community-based consultations, treatment and outpatient care.
40% Provides comprehensive medical care and treatment of disorders relating to internal medicine facility- wide. Reviews each patients’ medical status and provides medical care and treatment. Writes comprehensive health care notes concerning the patient’s medical status and orders medications, laboratory tests and/or consultations. Provides each patient a thorough physical examination in accord with medical needs and makes medical diagnoses.
20% Makes daily rounds evaluating patients’ progress and treatment; checks reports and charts of patients; recommends patients for admission, discharge or transfer; writes medical histories and reports; prescribes medication and therapy; advises nursing staﬀ on treatment and procedures for treatment and well-being of patients.
10% Refers patients to community-based providers for specialized consultation, treatment, and inpatient care; advises medical and direct care staﬀ regarding patient’s current condition, treatment needs and medical history; serves as an intermediary and advocate for patients during community-based consultations, treatment and outpatient care.

10% Serves as Physician on Call; provides coverage for other physicians and provides medical care and consultation on weekends and evenings/nights.
10% Provides consultation in internal medicine to other medical and direct care staﬀ.
5% Serves as an active member on committees; attends staﬀ meetings; participates in the education and development of other medical and direct care staﬀ through in-service training programs; provides training on symptoms and treatment of patients related to internal medicine.
5% Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
1. Requires an Illinois license to practice medicine and American Board Certiﬁcation in internal medicine.
2. Requires ability to communicate in both written and verbal formats.
Work Hours: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM with weekend schedule
