The Legal Intern will play a vital role in supporting the Legal and Facilities teams in their day-to-day operations. This position involves a range of responsibilities, primarily focused on the organization and maintenance of legal documents related to estate planning, entity incorporation, banking, and other legal matters. The role requires meticulous record-keeping, file maintenance, preparation of asset inventories, and the creation of tracking spreadsheets. The Legal Intern will work closely with team members in both the legal and facilities departments, providing support as needed. This position reports directly to the Legal department.
Responsibilities
- Review and organize legal documents, including estate planning, entity incorporation, and banking, within internal applications.
- Create and maintain a comprehensive spreadsheet of family estate planning documents spanning multiple generations.
- Organize and update files on SharePoint to ensure efficient document management.
- Assist the legal department with tasks related to banking forms and investment documents.
- Develop and manage spreadsheets to track incoming statements, forwarding them to the appropriate departments.
- Inventory and organize family artwork, photos, and memorabilia.
- Conduct file audits related to employee onboarding processes.
- Collaborate with external and internal legal and facility teams to facilitate communication and information exchange.
- Undertake ad hoc projects and provide support across various functions as requested.
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program in Legal Studies, Human Resources, or a related field.
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Eagerness to learn and take initiative.
- Understanding of the importance of confidentiality in a family office setting.
- A highly motivated self-starter with the ability to work both independently and within a team context.
The role is intended to run for the duration of the summer on a full-time, in-person basis. We require a minimum of 20 hours per week. Please note that this is a paid position.
