Coconino County is seeking interns for Spring/Summer/Fall 2024, for Coconino County Health and Human Services.

About Us:
The Coconino County Health and Human Services Department offers a broad array of services to protect and improve the health of communities by preventing epidemics and the spread of disease, promoting healthy lifestyles for children and families, protecting against hazards in homes, work, communities, and the environment, assuring access to high quality health care services, and preparing for and responding to emergencies. Arizona Health Zone collaborates with many public and private organizations to shape food consumption in a positive way, promote health, and reduce disease through programs offered to Supplemental Nutrition Assistance program (SNAP) eligible residents of our county. The program implements strategies or interventions, among other health promotion efforts, to improve the likelihood that persons eligible for the SNAP program will make healthy food choices within a limited budget and choose active lifestyles consistent with the current Dietary Guidelines for Americans and MyPlate.gov.
Internship Overview:
This is an unpaid internship opportunity to obtain experience in the AZ Health Zone program. Interns will have the flexibility according to their schedule to work up to 30 hours per week. This internship is supervised by a Program Manager II over this program. This internship will have the flexibility to work in person as well as remotely.
Work opportunities and Benefits:
- Participate in Policy, Systems, & Environmental change work with school, city/
towns, food banks, and Early Care Education centers to increase access and use of
community infrastructure (food systems, active living, and childhood). - Observe staff providing lessons and once comfortable, teach nutrition education classes. We are very busy teaching lessons in the schools and if you are looking to gain some experience in teaching grades Pre-K through high school, this is the
place to be. Attend events and camps. Work with gardening and farmers’ markets. - Work with staff to plan, develop, schedule, and implement events with partnering
organizations, creating marketing resources for the events (social media, flyers)

Minimum Qualifications:
- Microsoft Office knowledge
- Attention to detail
- Work safely and support the culture of workplace safety
- Communicate effectively
- Maintain effective relationships with other employees, community partners and the public.
Preferences: Students in senior level status with a Public Health major.
